Wild's Vanek expects home debut to be 'pretty cool'

Minnesota Wild forward Thomas Vanek is scheduled to make his preseason home debut Monday against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Vanek scored in a preseason game against the Penguins last week in Pittsburgh, but came out of it a little banged up and sat out a home game Saturday against the Winnipeg Jets.

"I'm used to putting new jerseys on the last 12 months, but once you do it the first time at home, it’s always pretty cool," Vanek told the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

Vanek played for three teams last season, getting traded from the Buffalo Sabres to the New York Islanders and then to the Montreal Canadiens. Vanek, a Minnesota native, signed with the Wild this summer.
