Anaheim Ducks forward Dany Heatley will miss a minimum of one week with a groin injury, the team announced Monday. The Ducks said Heatley was injured Sunday in the Ducks' 4-2 preseason loss to the Los Angeles Kings.
Heatley signed a one-year, $1 million contract with the Ducks in July. He was skating on Anaheim's top line with Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry and had scored twice during the preseason.
The Ducks are Heatley's fifth NHL team. He had 12 goals and 16 assists in 76 games last season with the Minnesota Wild. A two-time 50-goal scorer, Heatley's 372 NHL goals are eighth among active players.
Patrick Maroon took Heatley's place on the top line at practice Monday.
After four consecutive losses, Maroon said the practice was a good start on fixing several areas before the Ducks complete their preseason schedule against the Szan Jose Sharks on Saturday.
“Today was a really good day of practice,” he told the Ducks website. “We got some things done that we needed to sharpen. Everyone is excited to get going. It should be a good, fun practice week.”
