Chicago Blackhawks forward Teuvo Teravainen practiced Wednesday but will not play in the preseason game Thursday at the Detroit Red Wings.
Teravainen scored two goals during Blackhawks scrimmages Saturday at Notre Dame, but was injured following a hit from defenseman Cam Barker.
"I think it’s no problem to miss a couple days," Teravainen said, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. "There's a lot of days left here to show what I got."
Chicago's first-round pick (No. 18) in the 2012 NHL Draft, Teravainen is ranked No. 5 on the NHL.com Top 60 prospect ranking. The 20-year-old made his NHL debut last season after his season with Jokerit in Finland's top professional league ended. In three NHL games he had zero points and four shots on goal. He also had two goals in five games with Rockford, the Blackhawks' American Hockey League affiliate.
Blackhawks forward Kris Versteeg didn't practice Wednesday due to the flu and will also miss the game Thursday.
