Teravainen, Nordstrom day-to-day for Blackhawks

Chicago Blackhawks forwards Teuvo Teravainen and Joakim Nordstrom are day-to-day with upper-body injuries, coach Joel Quenneville said. Neither will play in Chicago's preseason game Tuesday against the Detroit Red Wings at United Center.

"He could have played," Quenneville said of Teravainen.

Teravainen scored two goals during Blackhawks scrimmages Saturday at Notre Dame, but was injured following a hit from defenseman Cam Barker.

Chicago's first-round pick (No. 18) in the 2012 NHL Draft, Teravainen is ranked No. 5 on the NHL.com Top 60 prospect ranking. The 20-year-old made his NHL debut last season after his season with Jokerit in Finland's top professional league ended. In three NHL games he had zero points and four shots on goal. He also had two goals in five games with Rockford, the Blackhawks' American Hockey League affiliate.

Nordstrom was selected by the Blackhawks in the third round (No. 90) of the 2010 draft. He had a goal and two assists in 16 NHL games last season, and 33 points (17 goals, 16 assists) in 58 games for Rockford of the American Hockey League.

Chicago opens the regular season Oct. 9 at the Dallas Stars.
