Seamus Malone is in his second season with the Dubuque Fighting Saints of the United States Hockey League. The 5-foot-10, 165-pound left wing was part of NHL Central Scouting's Futures List as a player to watch for the 2014 NHL Draft from the USHL. Regarded as a skilled forward, Malone had six goals, 27 points and a plus-12 rating in 50 games for the Fighting Saints in 2012-13. Committed to the University of Wisconsin in the fall of 2015, Malone has offered to maintain a blog during his team's stay in Omsk, Russia, while competing in the 2013 Junior Club World Cup that runs Aug. 25-31.

Hello again hockey fans!

Two games are in the books for the Dubuque Fighting Saints here at the 2013 Junior Club World Cup in Omsk, Russia. We are 1-1 after opening with a loss to Latvia's HC Riga, but following it up with a big win over the Czech Republic's Vitkovice Steel.

We came out really fast in our second game and played an overall great team game. Our goalie Christian Frey was great and we earned a 2-0 shutout. We had a lot of great chances in our first two games, but I thought we really showed that we are starting to gel and come together as a team in that game. We worked hard, stuck to our game plan and were rewarded for it.

Our team has only been on the ice for about a week and a half or so, and it's great to see that each time out we are improving. It's a great group of guys and we are looking forward to our next test.

[Tuesday] was an off day as we kept busy enjoying a tour of the town. It is a great city with a lot of history. We also had a chance to go bowling, and although my team didn't get the win on the lanes, it was a great team bonding activity and a lot of fun.

[Wednesday] we'll play the hometown Omsk Hawks. We got a chance to see a few periods of their games and they are a very skilled team with some great players. Also, the atmosphere they have is awesome. Their arena seats over 10,000 and they will pack it full of fans for the game. I've never played in front of that many people, so it's going to be a great experience and a great chance to earn a win that we need to continue our push towards earning a medal.

Personally, I have been able to record a point in every game here in Russia. I feel I have played well, but it's all a matter of working hard, playing my game, and helping the team win while constantly improving.

We have a tough task ahead playing Omsk, but I can't wait to take the ice.
