The latest edition of the United States Hockey League draft concluded on Tuesday with some familiar names prepared to take the next big step in their hockey-playing careers with the hopes of following the successful paths of their fathers.

Topping the list was Edina High School forward Keiffer Bellows, the son of 1993 Stanley Cup champion Brian Bellows, who played 17 seasons with five NHL teams. Bellows was selected in the first round (No. 13) by the Sioux Falls Stampede after scoring 10 goals and 27 points in 25 games as a sophomore at Edina.

Bellows was part of Phase 1 of the two-part draft conducted over two days beginning on Monday when 124 players with 1998 birth years were chosen over eight rounds. These players normally don't play immediately in the USHL, but remain on the affiliate lists of USHL teams and compete for roster spots in the future.

Other Phase 1 picks included Hingham High School (Mass.) defenseman Luke McInnis, son of former NHL left wing Marty McInnis, by the Youngstown Phantoms in the third round (No. 38) and Colorado Thunderbirds defenseman Callan Foote, son of former NHL defenseman Adam Foote, by the Omaha Lancers in the third round (No. 46).

Phase 2 on Tuesday had USHL teams selecting players in the 1994 through 1998 birth years in attempt to finalize rosters for 2014-15.

The big names on Day 2 included forward Sean MacTavish (son of Craig MacTavish) by the Waterloo Black Hawks in the first round (No. 16); forward Ty Amonte (Tony Amonte) by Youngstown in the 15th round (No. 233); and forward Carter Woolley (Jason Woolley) by the Muskegon Lumberjacks in the 18th round (No. 286).

The son of Pittsburgh Penguins general manager Ray Shero, forward Chris Shero of Kimball Union Academy in New Hampshire, was selected by the Des Moines Buccanneers in the 20th round (No. 315). The expansion Madison Capitols tabbed forward Eetu Selanne, the son of Anaheim Ducks right wing Teemu Selanne, in the 21st round (No. 335). Eetu Selanne spent the 2013-14 season with the Los Angeles Junior Kings.

Defenseman William Lagesson, who is No. 18 on NHL Central Scouting's final list of the top European skaters eligible for the 2014 NHL Draft, was chosen by the Dubuque Fighting Saints in the first round (No. 11). The 6-foot-2, 196-pound left-shooting Swede had eight goals, 20 points and 30 penalty minutes in 44 games for Frolunda's junior team.

The United States National Team Development Program does not participate in the USHL draft since the program holds a separate player-selection process that is completed in cooperation with the other USHL member clubs.
