The second annual Vegas Golden Knights Fathers Trip is underway as the players' fathers and other influential male figures join the team on its two-game road trip to Los Angeles and Arizona. After arriving in L.A., Ryan Reaves and his father Willard sat down for a chat with VGK Insider Gary Lawless.
Below is a look at what the three talked about. More of the interview can be watched by tuning into Knight Life on AT&T SportsNet at 6 p.m. PT next Friday, January 4.
Thoughts on growing up with the last name Reaves in Winnipeg with a father who is a famous football player…
Ryan: You got stopped everywhere. I mean you're walking around with dad and you're getting stopped and people are always talking about how great of a guy he was. You know he gave back to the community and all this. But yeah, always getting stopped by people.

Thoughts on what it's like to watch his sons play pro sports...
Willard: I'm extremely proud of both of them. You know, Jordan of course playing football with Saskatchewan (Roughriders) and Ryan growing up in Winnipeg and having the career that he had, coming up through high school, to the Wheat Kings and then American Hockey League and finally to the National Hockey League. He just continues to grow every single season and I'm very proud of him.
Thoughts on getting his attitude from his dad…
Ryan: I would say a lot of it. And he always taught me to be physical. There was this one time, I don't know what it was, but I took a puck off the foot or something and I was just on the ice laying there and he came up to my after and was like, well, what happened there? Well I hurt my foot and he was like, "did you break something?" "No." "Don't you ever lay on that ice again like that. Unless you are really hurt, get up!" So, there are little things like that that kind stuck with me. You know, he always used to mess with me when I was younger. I think it kind of taught me not to be sensitive but definitely, I got my toughness from him.
Thoughts on if his dad can skate..
Ryan: Are you crazy? I will say, that was way better than I thought you were going to be. Have you ever seen Bambi when it's trying to run across the ice, the legs split like that?
Willard: My skates were not sharpened. It was the equipment.
