Secret's in the sauce: Stalock showcases offensive skills on OT winner

Assist on Mikael Granlund's overtime goal makes him first goalie in team history to accomplish the feat

by Dan Myers @MNWildScribe / Wild.com

ST. PAUL -- When the NHL instituted 3-on-3 overtime prior to the 2015-16 season, it had its fans in mind.

But it also may have had Alex Stalock in mind as well.

The diminutive, offensive-minded netminder was more than just the Wild's final line of defense on Saturday against the Tampa Bay Lightning. He was a contributor on the offensive end as well.

From the Rink: Week of milestones starts early for Wild's Suter

Veteran defenseman will skate in game number 999 tonight, scored his 500th NHL point Friday in Dallas

by Dan Myers @MNWildScribe / Wild.com

ST. PAUL -- Wild defenseman Ryan Suter reached the first of what is expected to be multiple career milestones just this week alone last night when he scored a goal and added an assist in a 3-1 win against the Dallas Stars.

The two-point night gave him 500 points in the NHL, making him just the 11th American-born defenseman to reach the milestone. He's the sixth active blueliner to reach the 500-point plateau and the 65th in NHL history.

Dubnyk sensational again, gets rewarded in Dallas

Wild goaltender stopped 24 shots in the second period alone as Minnesota rallied late to get a win

by Dan Myers @MNWildScribe / Wild.com

DALLAS -- Following a win on Tuesday night against the Arizona Coyotes, Wild coach Bruce Boudreau said goaltender Devan Dubnyk was his team's "world."

Friday night in Dallas -- and specifically during a firewagon second period at American Airlines Center -- Dubnyk was out of this world in a 3-1 win against the host Stars.

Dubnyk made 24 saves in the second frame alone, keeping the Wild in a scoreless tie after 40 minutes in a game that, after a rather tight first period, became inexplicably loose.

From the Rink: Read preps for big chance with Wild in Dallas

Called up from Iowa on Wednesday, veteran winger set to start game against Stars on Wild's top line

by Dan Myers @MNWildScribe / Wild.com

DALLAS -- Matt Read knew he'd be playing hockey in Texas tonight. Little did he know, he'd be in Dallas and not Austin.

Practicing with the Iowa Wild on Wednesday, Read was preparing for Friday and Saturday games down the road in the Texas capital. But after practice on Wednesday, Iowa coach Tim Army called over the veteran winger and told him he was on his way to Minnesota.

But Read's presence on the roster -- at least initially -- is far from being a place holder. Read is expected to begin the game on the right side of Jason Zucker and Eric Staal on the Wild's top line.
