Koivu misses game Friday in Edmonton

Forward sustained a lower-body injury Thursday night in Calgary

EDMONTON -- The Wild will be without captain Mikko Koivu on Friday when it faces the Edmonton Oilers at Rogers Place.

Whether he'll miss further time is unknown. 

Koivu sustained a lower-body injury when he was hit knee-to-knee by Calgary Flames defenseman Mark Giordano during the third period of a game Thursday in Calgary. Koivu flew back to Minnesota for further examination, Fenton said.

Playing against the League's most prolific offense when it plays on home ice, Minnesota limited the homestanding Flames to just two goals and 20 shots on goal.

CALGARY, Alberta -- Apparently, "The Mailman" delivers internationally.

Wild forward Jordan Greenway has been so good the past couple weeks, his teammates have christened the rookie with a new nickname because he's so good below the goal line.

"He's able to carry the mail down there," said Wild forward Eric Fehr. "The way he's handling the puck and making sure he's strong on it and guys just can't knock him off. When he's on his game like that, he can make a big difference for us."
