Minnesota Wild prospects will once again kick off the hockey season with a trip to Traverse City, Michigan for the 2007 NHL Centre I.C.E. Prospects Tournament. The tournament will run from Friday, September 7 to Tuesday, September 11, and will feature four games. Columbus, St. Louis, Dallas, New York Rangers, Tampa Bay, Detroit and Atlanta will also be taking part. The Wild prospects will be taking on Dallas, Columbus and St. Louis before facing a team from the Eastern Conference in the final game.
Minnesota's roster will feature 13 draft picks including first rounders James Sheppard and Benoit Pouliot. A total of eight tryout players will also suit up for Minnesota, most notably Tyler Hirsch, the Bloomington native and former Minnesota Gopher. Hirsch and others will be battling for the chance to attend the Wild's training camp, which opens on Friday, September 14 at the Xcel Energy Center.
As in years past, Wild.com will continually check in with Wild Assistant General Manager/Player Personnel, Tommy Thompson, to get his take on each day's events.
