The Minnesota Wild announced today that the team will honor new Hockey Hall of Fame inductee Dino Ciccarelli at the team’s game against Ottawa at Xcel Energy Center on Dec. 16.
Ciccarelli played nine seasons with the Minnesota North Stars, was a four-time NHL All-Star and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in November. Ciccarelli will perform a ceremonial puck drop prior to the game and also be involved in several promotional activities for the Wild.
“I’m excited to return to the Twin Cities, and very honored the Wild is celebrating my career and induction into the Hockey Hall of Fame,” Ciccarelli said. “I have lots of friends, including many North Stars alumni, who I look forward to catching up with.”
Lou Nanne, former General Manager of the North Stars, will be on hand to lead the crowd in “Let’s Play Hockey” prior to the game as well. Nanne signed the undrafted Ciccarelli in 1979 after Ciccarelli had missed half of his final junior season with an injury that shattered his leg.
