The Minnesota Wild announced today that digital ticketing will replace paper tickets for Season Ticket Holders beginning in the upcoming 2014-15 season. While roughly half of teams across the National Hockey League, and other leagues in North America, offer some type of digital ticketing, the Wild becomes the first professional sports team in the Twin Cities market to offer comprehensive digital ticketing for Season Ticket Holders.
“The time is right to make this transition,” Wild Chief Operating Officer Matt Majka said. “Our fans have become accustomed to using the convenience of online and mobile technology in many other areas of their lives. This initiative helps ensure Wild tickets are the most trusted, convenient and environmentally-friendly we can provide to our customers.”
Season Ticket Holders will receive a smart card, the size of a credit card, that contains all of their account data. This card will be scanned upon entry to Xcel Energy Center. Digital ticketing includes fast, convenient online forwarding, with no forwarding fees. Fans can’t grab the wrong game tickets by mistake, or hand over the wrong tickets to friends and family.
