Wild Signs Emergency Goaltender Laurie

The Minnesota Wild has signed goaltender Rob Laurie to a Professional Tryout Agreement and will serve as an emergency goaltender for tonight’s game against the Los Angeles Kings. Goaltender Darcy Kuemper is out with an upper-body injury.

Laurie, 43, played four seasons at Western Michigan University (1988-92) and 10 seasons in the minor leagues (1992-2002) playing for the Roanoke Valley Rampage (ECHL), Dayton Bombers (ECHL), Johnstown Chiefs (ECHL), Greensboro Monarchs (ECHL), Adirondack Red Wings (AHL), Toledo Storm (ECHL), Tallahassee Tiger Sharks (ECHL), Toledo Storm (ECHL), Huntington Blizzard (ECHL), Fort Worth Brahmas (WPHL), Flint Generals (UHL), Austin Ice Bats (WPHL) and El Paso Buzzards (CHL). He will wear jersey No. 33 for Minnesota. Laurie served as an emergency goaltender for the Anaheim Ducks on April 5, 2013 and with the Vancouver Canucks earlier this season on Jan. 5, 2014.

The Wild previously signed Paul Deutsch to an Amateur Tryout Contract on Nov. 23, 2011, to serve as an emergency goaltender.
