Wild sets Training Camp roster at 54

SAINT PAUL/MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- Minnesota Wild President and General Manager Doug Risebrough today announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has added 15 players from its 2008 NHL Centre I.C.E. Prospects Tournament team to its Training Camp presented by Wells Fargo roster. The Wild begins Training Camp presented by Wells Fargo Saturday at 10 a.m. at Ralph Engelstad Arena in Grand Forks, N.D, with 54 players on the roster.

The Wild added the following players to training camp: LW Colton Gillies, LW Ryan Graham, LW Matt Kassian, C Cody Almond, C Justin Hodgman, C Morten Madsen, RW Cal Clutterbuck, RW Carson McMillan, D Tyler Cuma, D Justin Falk, D Maxim Noreau, D Frederic St. Denis, D Marco Scandella, D Tyler Schmidt and G Anton Khudobin.

That group includes the Wild’s top two picks in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. Cuma was taken 23rd overall, while Scandella was Minnesota’s second-round pick (No. 55 overall). Gillies was the Wild’s first-round pick (No. 16 overall) in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft. Twenty-five of the 54 players in the Wild’s training camp were selected by the team in the NHL Entry Draft.

The Wild released the following nine players from their tryouts: F Chris Culligan, F Kevin King, F Tomas Knotek, F Jordan Mistelbacher, F Scott Wasden, D Eric Doyle, D Alexandre Neron, G Cody St. Jacques and G Steven Sanford.

The Wild finished third in the Traverse City, Mich., tournament, defeating Detroit 3-2 in a shootout on Wednesday.
