CHICAGO -- With its fifth-round pick (147th overall) in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft, the Minnesota Wild selected defenseman Jacob Golden of the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League.

Scouting report: A late-round pick in the OHL Draft in 2015, Golden was once set to attend Harvard University before he changed his mind and decided to remain in Canada instead.
He played for one of the country's most prestigious educational institutions there, suiting up in 44 games for Upper Canada College in 2015-16 and scoring 16 goals to go with 15 assists in 44 games.
He moved on to Ontario last season, chipping in a pair of assists in 38 games. His speed is what sets him apart from others and utilizing it will be what gets him to the professional ranks.
