The Minnesota Wild has recalled goaltender John Curry under emergency conditions from the Iowa Wild of the American Hockey League (AHL) and placed goaltender Niklas Backstrom on Injured Reserve retroactive to Dec. 21 due to illness.
Curry, 30 (2/27/84), has not appeared in a game with Minnesota this season. In 13 games with Iowa he is 5-6-0 with a 2.84 goals against average (GAA) and a .917 save percentage (SV%), including 4-1-0 with a 1.95 GAA and a .944 SV% in his last five starts. Curry is 3-2-0 with a 3.55 GAA and a .893 SV% in six career NHL games with Pittsburgh and Minnesota. The 5-foot-11, 185-pound native of Shorewood, Minn., signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Wild on July 17 and wears jersey No. 33 with Minnesota.
