by Staff Writer / Minnesota Wild

Minnesota Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher today announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has reassigned defenseman Tyson Strachan (pronounced STRACK-in) to the Iowa Wild of the American Hockey League (AHL).

Strachan, 31 (10/30/84), appeared in two games with Minnesota after being recalled from Iowa on Jan. 1, including his debut with Minnesota on Jan. 5 in Columbus and last night’s games vs. Philadelphia, where he earned a plus-1 rating. The 6-foot-3, 210-pound native of Melfort, Sask., has tallied two assists and 34 PIM in 31 games with Iowa this season. He owns 20 points (1-19=20) and 199 PIM in 186 career NHL contests in parts of eight seasons (2008-16) with St. Louis, Florida, Washington, Buffalo and Minnesota. Strachan played four seasons at Ohio State University (2003-07) and was selected by the Carolina Hurricanes in the fifth round (137th overall) of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft before signing as a free agent with the Wild on July 2, 2015.
