Erik Reitz performed when needed, and he’ll now return to the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League after being reassigned on Saturday. Reitz was recalled on Wednesday to give Minnesota six defensemen after injuries to Kim Johnsson, Keith Carney and Kurtis Foster.
The 24-year-old blueliner played on Friday night in the Wild’s 3-0 win over the Chicago Blackhawks, and posted a plus-one rating in 10:36 of ice time. Johnsson is expected to rejoin the lineup on Saturday, and Carney also could return. Foster is expected to miss the rest of January with a lower body injury.
