Houston Aeros 2012-13 Record: 9-6-1-2, 21 points, Third Place in South Division

The Houston Aeros earned victories in a pair of tight games on the weekend, making it three-straight wins for the club. The Aeros topped interstate rival, the San Antonio Rampage, for a 2-1 road win Friday. Winger Justin Fontaine led Houston, scoring the game-winning goal with only 2:13 left in regulation. Fontaine also set up the first goal by the Aeros, a power-play tally by Jason Zucker. Houston goalie Matt Hackett stopped 25-of-26 shots to secure the victory.

In another dramatic game on Sunday, the Aeros cooled the Abbotsford Heat in overtime, 3-2. Zucker tied an AHL record for fastest overtime goal, ending the game just five seconds into the extra frame. Fontaine continued his hot play, adding a goal and an assist, while Center David McIntyre also scored.

The Aeros host the Oklahoma City Barons for a pair of back-to-back home games at 7:05 p.m. both Thursday and Friday.

Canadian Hockey Leagues

LW Raphael Bussieres - Baie-Comeau (QMJHL): The Wild’s second-round pick in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft totaled four points (3-1=4) in four games last week and was named the CHL’s Player of the Week for the week ending Nov. 18 after posting 10 points (4-6=10) and a plus-3 rating in the seven-day stretch. Ranks second on Baie-Comeau and T-16th in the QMJHL in points (16-20=36) this season. The forward is's featured prospect and his recent success is highlighted in a story along with a PONDcast interview.

D Matt Dumba - Red Deer (WHL): Minnesota’s first-round pick in June’s Draft recorded a goal and a plus-1 rating in three games with the Rebels last week. On the season, the blueliner has six goals, eight assists and 35 PIM.

C Tyler Graovac - Ottawa (OHL): Did not play for Ottawa last week after suffering an upper-body injury. He is still T-7th among all OHL players with 18 goals this season and has already matched his OHL full-season high with 27 points on the year.

D Colton Jobke - Regina (WHL): Did not play for Regina last week after undergoing surgery to repair severed tendons in his left hand after being injured Nov. 9. Before the injury, Jobke registered 13 points (1-12=13) in 15 games.


D John Draeger - Michigan State (CCHA): The Spartans did not play last week. The freshman has four points (1-3=4) in 12 games.

RW Adam Gilmour - Muskegon (USHL): Minnesota’s fourth-round selection in the 2012 Draft tallied an assist in three games with Muskegon last week. He has six goals, eight assists and plus-4 rating in 20 games.

RW Anthony Hamburg - RIT (AHA): Did not play in RIT’s tie vs. Clarkson Friday. He has four points (1-3=4) in 11 games with RIT.

LW Erik Haula - University of Minnesota (WCHA): Recorded two assists and a plus-2 rating in the Gophers’ weekend victories at Vermont. Leads the Gophers in points (6) and assists (10) The Gophers are ranked No. 3 in the country.

LW Mario Lucia - Notre Dame (CCHA): Tallied an assist in Notre Dame’s weekend split vs. North Dakota. He has a goal and an assist in two college games. Suffered a broken leg before the start of his first season with the Irish and returned Nov. 15 at Michigan. Notre Dame is ranked No. 6 in the country.

LW Louis Nanne - Penticton (BCHL): Totaled three goals in three games last week brining his season goal total to eight. He also has 10 assists on the year. Penticton is the No. 3 ranked team in the BCHL with a record of 17-7-0-2.

D Nick Seeler - Nebraska Omaha (WCHA): Did not play in the Mavericks’ weekend victories vs. Alabama-Huntsville due to injury. Through 10 games in his freshman year, Seeler has a goal, four assists and a plus-5 rating. Nebraska-Omaha is ranked No. 14 in the country.


RW Christoph Bertschy - SC Bern (Swiss): Totaled two points (1-1=2) and a plus-2 rating in three games last week, bringing his season point total to three (2-1=3) in 22 games.

D Daniel Gunnarsson - Lulea HF (SEL): Registered three points (1-2=3) and a plus-4 rating in five games with Lulea. The defenseman has eight points (4-4=8) and is plus-7 in 27 games.


Johan Gustafsson - Lulea HF (SEL): Went 4-1-0 with Lulea, allowing only six total goals last week. Leads all Swedish Elite League goalies in goals-against average (1.63 GAA) and ranks fifth in save percentage (.931 SV%), having stopped 379-of-407 shots.

Stephen Michalek - Harvard (ECAC): Harvard did not play last week. He has not played in his sophomore season after being named to the ECAC All-Rookie Team during his first campaign.
