HOUSTON AEROS (22-17-6-1, 6th in West Division) – The Aeros had a great return from the AHL All-Star Break, sweeping the Abbotsford Heat to move into fifth in the West Division this weekend. Houston traveled to British Columbia and dominated in a 7-1 win Friday night. D Maxim Noreau tied a franchise record with five points (2-3=5) and the Aeros tied a franchise record with five PPGs, while G Wade Dubielewicz saved 26-of-27 to earn his 10th win of the season. The Aeros had a more difficult game Saturday night, but still came away with two points, topping the Heat in OT, 5-4. D Brandon Rogers scored the GWG in OT, C Cody Almond added three assists and Noreau had two points to help Dubielewicz earn the win. Noreau was honored for his stellar performance, being named the Reebok/AHL Player of the Week Monday for totaling seven points (3-4=7) in two-games. The Aeros remain on the road this week, traveling to face Chicago Wednesday, Milwaukee Friday and Peoria Saturday.

Canadian Hockey Leagues

D Tyler Cuma - Ottawa (OHL):
First round pick (23rd overall) in 2008 Draft helped Ottawa go 2-0-0-0 last week. He has two goals and 12 assists in 34 games.

LW Kris Foucault - Calgary (WHL): The fourth round pick (103rd overall) in 2009 Draft scored a goal and added two assists in three Calgary wins last week. He has totaled 13 goals and eight assists in 45 games.

D Marco Scandella - Val-D'Or (QMJHL): Second round selection (55th overall) in 2008 leads his team with a +12 rating. He notched two assists and was a +2 in two games last week. Has 26 points (8-18=26) in 26 games this season.   


C Anthony Hamburg - Omaha (USHL): Seventh round pick (193rd overall) in 2009 Draft, and Colgate University recruit scored a goal in two Omaha wins last week and now owns four goals and 12 assists in 34 games.

LW Erik Haula - Omaha (USHL): The University of Minnesota recruit and seventh round pick (182nd overall) in 2009 NHL Draft scored three goals and was a +3 in Omaha's two wins last week. He now ranks fourth in the USHL in points (18-29=47) and second with a +23 rating.

D Nick Leddy - Minnesota (WCHA): First round pick (16th overall) in last summer's draft was held without a point in a two-game series with St. Cloud State. Has a goal and two assists in 17 games this season.

D Sean Lorenz - Notre Dame (CCHA): Fourth round pick (115th overall) has a goal and an assist in 24 games with the Irish this season.

D Kyle Medvec - Vermont (HE): Fourth round pick in 2006 (102nd overall) leads Vermont defensemen in points with two goals and eight assists.


Matt Hackett - Plymouth (OHL):
The third round draft pick (77th overall) in last year's draft owns a record of 25-14-0-1 with a .926 save percentage and a 2.63 goals against av

Darcy Kuemper - Red Deer (WHL): The sixth round pick (161st overall) in last year's draft earned a win in his only start last week. He is 18-16-0-3 with a .909 save percentage and a 2.73 goals against average.
