HOUSTON AEROS (26-20-6-1, 5th in West Division) – Houston remained in fifth place in the West Division after going 3-1-0-0 last week. The Aeros started the week with a 3-1 over Abbotsford Monday night in Houston. Chad Rau, Nathan Smith and Cody Almond scored for the Aeros and Wade Dubielewicz stopped 30 shots to earn the win. The Aeros stayed in Houston to earn a 4-1 victory over Peoria Wednesday night. Ryan Gunderson notched the GWG and added an assist, while Barry Brust made 25 saves. The Aeros win streak was halted Friday night with a 5-3 loss in Milwaukee. Ryan Nie earned the loss in his first AHL start. Houston finished the week strong with a 3-2 come-from-behind win in Grand Rapids Saturday. Peter Zingoni tallied the GWG and Brust made 20 saves to earn the win. The Aeros have a break to begin the week before hosting Grand Rapids Friday and Saturday, before hosting Chicago Sunday afternoon.

Canadian Hockey Leagues

D Tyler Cuma - Ottawa (OHL):
First round pick (23rd overall) in 2008 Draft posted one assist in two games last week to bring his point total to 15 (2-13=15) in 39 games.

LW Kris Foucault - Calgary (WHL): The fourth round pick (103rd overall) in 2009 Draft had a goal and two assists in three Calgary wins last week. He now has 14 goals and 11 assists in 50 games.

D Marco Scandella - Val-D'Or (QMJHL): Second round selection (55th overall) in 2008 picked up two assists before being suspended indefinitely by the QMJHL on February 4 for a hit to the head. At the time of his suspension, Scandella lead his team with a +11 rating, and ranked second among team defensemen in points (9-22=31).   


C Anthony Hamburg - Omaha (USHL): Seventh round pick (193rd overall) in 2009 Draft, and Colgate University recruit scored his fifth goal of the season last week and now owns 17 points.

LW Erik Haula - Omaha (USHL): The University of Minnesota recruit and seventh round pick (182nd overall) in 2009 NHL Draft scored totaled five points on two goals and three assists in three games last week. He ranks fourth in the USHL in scoring with 56 points on 22 goals and 34 assists.

D Nick Leddy - Minnesota (WCHA): First round pick (16th overall) in last summer's draft has a goal and four assists in 19 games this season. Minnesota was off last week.

D Sean Lorenz - Notre Dame (CCHA): Fourth round pick (115th overall) has two goals and an assist in 28 games this season.

D Kyle Medvec - Vermont (HE): Fourth round pick in 2006 (102nd overall) scored his third goal of the season last week and leads team defensemen with 11 points.


Matt Hackett - Plymouth (OHL):
The third round draft pick (77th overall) in last year's draft went 1-0-0-1 last week, allowing three total goals. His .929 save percentage ranks second in the OHL, and his 28 wins rank third. He has lowered his goals against average to 2.52, which is third in the League.

Darcy Kuemper - Red Deer (WHL): The sixth round pick (161st overall) in last year's draft was 2-1 in three starts last week. He now owns a 21-17-0-3 record with a 2.75 goals against average and a .908 save percentage.
