 Anthony Aiello and the Boston College Eagles came up one goal short against Wisconsin in the NCAA championship game on Saturday.
HOUSTON AEROS: (48-23-3-3, 2nd place West Division) – C Erik Westrum tallied a goal and an assist, RW Joel Ward and RW Matt Foy each scored first-period goals as the Aeros climbed within two points of first place with a 4-1 victory over Omaha at Toyota Center on Tuesday...G Seamus Kotyk made 26 saves as Houston moved to 102 points – two behind idle first-place Milwaukee with one game in hand…The Aeros are three points ahead of third-place Peoria…D Curtis Murphy’s second goal of the game, with 18 seconds left in overtime, lifted Houston to a 5-4 victory over San Antonio at home Sunday in their only game last week…Murphy added an assist, while Westrum, RW Kirby Law and C Patrick O’Sullivan each collected a goal and an assist…O’Sullivan’s 45th goal tied an Aeros team record and Kotyk made 26 saves…Law (41-66-107) leads the AHL in scoring with 107 points…Westrum ranks tied for second with 96 points (33-63=96)…O’Sullivan ranks third in the AHL in goals and tied for fifth in scoring with 87 points (45-42=87)...Houston completes its regular season schedule this week with a home game against Omaha on Friday and then plays at Chicago on Saturday and at Iowa on Sunday.

Future Wild


C Kyle Bailey - Portland (WHL): Finished the regular season with 18 goals and 35 assists for 53 points in 66 games with Portland, ranking fourth on the team in scoring and third in assists. Has two goals and four assists through seven WHL playoff games (semifinal series with Vancouver tied 1-1).

LW Patrick Bordeleau - Val-D’Or (QMJHL): Finished the season with 23 goals and 33 assists for 56 points in 67 games with Val-D’Or, ranking fifth on the team in scoring. Scored game-winner in Val-D’Or’s lone playoff win.

D Riley Emmerson - Tri-City (WHL): Finished the season with one goal and one assist in 66 games. Was held scoreless in first round playoff series loss to Everett (4-1).

LW Matt Kassian - Kamloops (WHL): Finished the season with five goals and six assists for 11 points in 67 games with Kamloops, which did not qualify for the playoffs.

LW Benoit Pouliot - Sudbury (OHL): Finished the regular season with 35 goals and 30 assists for 65 points in 51 games with Sudbury. Led the team in goals and plus/minus rating (+23), and was second in scoring. Scored eight goals and three assists for 11 playoff points. Sudbury was swept in the second round of the OHL playoffs.

D A.J. Thelen - Prince Albert (WHL): Scored 13 goals and 23 assists for 36 points in 72 games for Prince Albert, which did not qualify for the playoffs. Signed an amateur tryout contract with the Houston Aeros.


D Anthony Aiello - Boston College (Hockey East): Scored first goal as a college player in Boston College’s NCAA Frozen Four semifinal win over North Dakota. B.C. lost to Wisconsin, 2-1, in NCAA championship game. Aiello finished his freshman season with one goal and eight assists.

RW Mike Erickson - Western Michigan (CCHA): Scored nine goals and nine assists for 18 points in 39 games with Western Michigan, finishing the season ranked tied for third on the team in scoring and third in goals.

C Danny Irmen - Minnesota (WCHA): Scored 16 goals and 22 assists for 38 points in 30 games, ranking third on the Gophers in goals and fourth in scoring. Signed a contract with the Wild beginning in 2006-2007. Is currently skating with the Houston Aeros.

F Ryan Jones - Miami (CCHA): Scored 22 goals and 13 assists for 35 points in 39 games with Miami. Ranked first on the team in goals and second in scoring.

C Kyle Wilson - Colgate (ECAC): Scored 23 goals and 18 assists for 41 points in 39 games. Finished the season ranked first on the team in goals and in scoring.


C Morten Madsen - Frolunda Jr. (SWE): Scored six goals and 20 assists for 26 points in 25 games with Frolunda. Scored four goals and three assists in four U20 playoff games. Scored 16 points (4-12=16) in 11 regular season games with U20 club.

D Georgi Misharin - CSKA Moscow (RUS): Scored four goals and 9 assists for 13 points in 50 games with CSKA Moscow. Picked up 24 penalty minutes in four playoff games.

RW Julien Sprunger - HC Fribourg (SUI): Scored 25 goals and 16 assists for 41 points in 49 games with HC Fribourg. Ranks first on his team in goals and tied for fourth in scoring. 

D Mikhail Tyulyapkin - Novokuznetsk (RUS): Scored two goals and five assists for seven points in 51 games. Picked up one assist in three playoff games.


Anton Khudobin - Saskatoon (WHL): Posted a 23-13-1 record with a 2.90 goals against average and a .917 save percentage with four shutouts. Is 4-2-3 with a 2.78 goals against average in the playoffs.  

Miroslav Kopriva - Austin (CHL): Posted a 12-3-0 record with a 2.33 goals against average and a .938 save percentage. Named the CHL Goaltender of the Week on December 5, and was recalled by Houston on March 8.

Kristofer Westblom - Kelowna (WHL): Finished the regular season with a 16-6-1 record with a 2.87 goals against average and a .892 save percentage.
