Iowa Wild 2015-16 Record: 0-1-0-1, 1 point, T - Fourth Place in Western Division


The Iowa Wild, Minnesota Wild’s American Hockey League affiliate, went 0-1-1 in its two season-opening weekend games against the Charlotte Checkers. The Wild dropped the first contest 4-1 at Wells Fargo Arena on Saturday (10/10). D Mike Reilly scored the team’s lone goal with assists from D Gustav Olofsson and F Zack Mitchell as G Jeremy Smith stopped 39-of-43 shots.

Iowa earned a point in the second game with a 5-4 shootout loss in Des Moines on Sunday (10/11). F Brady Brassart led the Wild with three points (2-1=3) while F Ruslan Fedotenko (0-2=2) and F Christoph Bertschy (1-1=2) each registered two points. Smith made 40 saves through overtime and allowed both shootout goals. After two games, Brassart ranks T-6th in scoring in the AHL, while Bertschy and Olofsson rank T-5th in rookie scoring.

Before the season started, Minnesota Wild Assistant General Manager Brent Flahr was named the General Manager of the Iowa Wild (9/30). Iowa named F Maxime Fortunus the third captain in team history as D Tyson Strachan and forwards Zac Dalpe, Brett Sutter, Fedotenko and Marc Hagel will rotate turns as alternate captains (10/9).

D Tanner Faith - Moose Jaw (WHL): Acquired by Moose Jaw from the Kootenay Ice (9/23)...Returned to action Sept. 27 after missing the remainder of the 2014-15 season due to an upper-body injury suffered in December 2014...Leads the Warriors in penalty minutes and ranks second amongst defensemen in scoring...Minnesota’s fifth-round selection in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.

C Pavel Jenys - Sudbury (OHL): In his second season with Sudbury...Tallied three points (1-2=3) in the last five games...Ranks T-6th in scoring on the Wolves…Wild’s seventh-round selection in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.

C Chase Lang - Calgary (WHL): In his fourth season with Calgary...Ranks fourth on the Hitmen in scoring...Has tallied four points (1-3=4) in his last five games...Minnesota’s sixth-round selection in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.

D Hunter Warner - Prince Albert (WHL): Ranks first on the team amongst defensemen in assists, second in scoring and third in penalty minutes during his second season with Prince Albert…Signed as a free agent with the Wild, September 23, 2014.
