Wild Plays Of The Week

by Katlyn Gambill / Minnesota Wild

Over the last few seasons, Wild.com wanted help from fans in the State of Hockey and beyond to help select the Top Play of the Year. To do so, we needed you to pick the Top Play each week, so we could pit them against each other in the offseason in a single-elimination tournament. Last season, Zach Parise’s stellar wrister against Calgary won top honors, defeating Mikko Koivu’s tic-tap-tip-in play against Winnipeg.

Mikael Granlund’s no look pass to Zach Parise against Boston won by a landslide last week. This week, Nino Niederreiter, Thomas Vanek/Jason Pominville and Darcy Kuemper go up against one another.

Niederreiter got Minnesota on the board against the Penguins with his first career shorthanded goal and boy was it a beauty as he took a pass from his blue line and sped past Pittsburgh’s defenders.

Former line mates, Thomas Vanek and Jason Pominville, combined for a great goal against Montreal with a little back and forth passing before Pominville tipped the puck past Carey Price.

The final play up for top honors this week is from Darcy Kuemper, who made another sprawling save against Montreal’s Jiri Sekac.
