Wild Plays Of The Week: Nov. 9

by Ross Hollebon / Minnesota Wild

It’s time once again for Wild fans to decide the DQ Bakes Play of the Week based on three of the best efforts provided by Wild players from recent games. Voting ends Wednesday at 6:00 p.m.

The winning vote getter for the week of Nov. 2nd was Ryan Carter’s goal against Chicago on October 30th. Erik Haula started the play by getting a piece of Patrick Kane’s midair pass with his stick, Chris Porter killed its momentum with his skate, and Porter sprung Haula up ice with the puck, joined by Carter who beat Blackhawks goalie Scott Darling.

This week’s nominees are:

Dumba One-time Blast (November 5, 2015 vs. Nashville)
With an injury to Zach Parise, Matt Dumba was elevated in to power play duty and made it count. At 6:51 of the 3rd period, Dumba, assisted by Jared Spurgeon and Jason Zucker, sent a rocket past goalie Pekka Rinne to tie the score at 2-2.

Dubnyk Post-to-Post (November 7, 2015 vs. Tampa Bay)
Devan Dubnyk, in earning his second shutout of the season, came up with numerous outstanding saves. The most memorable likely came in this multi-save sequence after nearly getting caught out of position. Dubnyk slid back across his crease to get a piece of an Anton Stralman shot at an open net, and then, maintained his balance, and gloved a shot across the grain by Alex Killorn to thwart the Lightning attack.

Spurgeon General GWG (November 7, 2015 vs. Tampa Bay)
Jared Spurgeon found the right spot and provided the only goal the Wild needed thanks to Dubnyk’s efforts in goal. Only 26 seconds into the second period, Spurgeon took a shot from the right point (on assists from Charlie Coyle and Jason Pominville) that beat goalie Ben Bishop for the game winner.

Week 1 (Oct. 19th):  Zach Parise’s hat trick goal at Colorado

Week 2 (Oct. 26th):  Jason Zucker’s goal in :10 seconds at Winnipeg

Week 3 (Nov. 2nd): Ryan Carter’s goal in close vs. Chicago
