Wild Plays Of The Week: Nov. 17

by Katlyn Gambill / Minnesota Wild

Over the last few seasons, Wild.com wanted help from fans in the State of Hockey and beyond to help select the Top Play of the Year. To do so, we needed you to pick the Top Play each week, so we could pit them against each other in the offseason in a single-elimination tournament. Last season, Zach Parise’s stellar wrister against Calgary won top honors, defeating Mikko Koivu’s tic-tap-tip-in play against Winnipeg.

Last week, Nino Niederreiter's shorthanded goal against Pittsburgh beat Thomas Vanek's play to Jason Pominville and Darcy Kuemper's sprawling save.

Cross-checking penalties happen all the time, but a cross-checking goal? That was a new one. Ryan Carter scored by knocking the puck past Buffalo with his stick. It went to review, but counted as a good goal.

Nino Niederreiter’s sweet dangles made Sports Center’s Top 10 plays on Sunday night after he drew Pavelec out of the net and then slid the puck past him from the goal line.

Then finally, Marco Scandella, who had just returned from illness, took a wicked slapshot from the point to seal the overtime win for the Wild, just 1:01 into the extra session.

Take your pick for your favorite play of the week.
