Over the last few seasons, Wild.com wanted help from fans in the State of Hockey and beyond to help select the Top Play of the Year. To do so, we needed you to pick the Top Play each week, so we could pit them against each other in the offseason in a single-elimination tournament. Last season, Zach Parise’s stellar wrister against Calgary won top honors, defeating Mikko Koivu’s tic-tap-tip-in play against Winnipeg.
First up is Zach Parise's breakaway goal against Calgary. He picked off a pass at the defensive zone blue line before zooming past the Calgary defensemen to get in alone on Kari Ramo.
Next up is Mikko Koivu's first goal against the Los Angeles Kings. The Captain carried the puck from center ice into the offensive zone before quickly passing it to Chris Stewart along the boards, who bounced it back to Koivu for a classic backhand shot.
Then finally is Jonas Brodin's stick save. With two men in the penalty box, Brodin made the save of the game as a Kings forward had an empty net shot, but Brodin made the stick save to push the puck towards the corner.
