Wild Plays Of The Week: Mar. 16

by Mike Doyle / Minnesota Wild

Over the last few seasons, Wild.com wanted help from fans in the State of Hockey and beyond to help select the Top Play of the Year. To do so, we needed you to pick the Top Play each week, so we could pit them against each other in the offseason in a single-elimination tournament. Last season, Zach Parise’s stellar wrister against Calgary won top honors, defeating Mikko Koivu’s tic-tap-tip-in play against Winnipeg.

Last week fans voted Jason Pominville's goal against Washington as the winner.

This week, we have a pair of pretty passing plays and a big save for fans to vote on.

Up first, following a Wild power play, forward Mikael Granlund set up behind the net. Defenseman Jared Spurgeon snuck in from the point, and the Finnish center found him for a one-timer.

Spurgeon was in on the second play of the week nominee, joining the rush and help setting up a Jason Pominville goal. The blueliner activated and took a pass from Zach Parise. Astutely, Spurgeon found Pominville trailing the play for an easy one-timer goal by Pominville.

Finally, goaltender Devan Dubnyk has been a huge part of the Wild’s resurgence since mid-January. Against St. Louis, the netminder made 41 saves to steal the game from the Blues. None bigger than the glove snag against St. Louis defenseman Alex Pietrangelo. Glovely.
