Over the last few seasons, Wild.com wanted help from fans in the State of Hockey and beyond to help select the Top Play of the Year. To do so, we needed you to pick the Top Play each week, so we could pit them against each other in the offseason in a single-elimination tournament. Last season, Zach Parise’s stellar wrister against Calgary won top honors, defeating Mikko Koivu’s tic-tap-tip-in play against Winnipeg.
Jason Zucker’s “Mighty Zucks” top-shelf goal against Arizona won last week’s top play.
First up this week is Thomas Vanek’s goal against Detroit. He picked up the puck along the boards from Ryan Suter then wormed his way to the front of the net before flawlessly backhanding the puck top shelf past Petr Mrazek.
Next it Zach Parise’s tally versus the Red Wings. In a classic Parise move of determination and skill, he waited for Detriot to make a breakout pass, picked it off and then pushed home the game-tying goal.
This weekend, Ryan Suter represented the Minnesota Wild at the NHL All-Star Game. On Sunday night, he sniped a goal for “Team Toews.”
Take your pick for your favorite Wild play of the past week.
