Over the last few seasons, Wild.com wanted help from fans in the State of Hockey and beyond to help select the Top Play of the Year. To do so, we needed you to pick the Top Play each week, so we could pit them against each other in the offseason in a single-elimination tournament. Last season, Zach Parise’s stellar wrister against Calgary won top honors, defeating Mikko Koivu’s tic-tap-tip-in play against Winnipeg.
Last week, fans voted Jordan Schroeder's Backhand Shelf as the winner.
Three new plays to vote on this week, and we begin with defenseman Matt Dumba’s goal against his hometown team of Calgary. After a slick pass from Jonas Brodin, Dumba skated the puck from his blue line to the top of the circle where he ripped a shot past Jonas Hiller.
Captain Mikko Koivu showed patience pays off in overtime when he received a pass from Charlie Coyle then held on to the puck, skated to the hashmarks and then ended the game in overtime.
The third and final play of the week, is a Zach Parise goal. Christian Folin deserves a lot of kudos on this goal as he found the space to slide the puck to Parise, who was waiting backdoor to tap in the puck past Jhonas Entroth and the Stars.
