It’s time once again for Wild fans to decide the DQ Bakes Play of the Week based on three of the best efforts provided by Wild players from recent games. Voting ends Wednesday at 6:00 p.m.
The winning vote getter for the week of Dec. 21 was the extra effort of Zach Parise against the Vancouver Canucks on Dec. 15. Paris took an initial shot, put the rebound back on goal from his knees and then finally, after popping back up, buried it on the third try from a tough angle.
This week’s nominees are: PLAY #1 Coyle Goes Top Shelf (Dec. 21, 2015 vs. DAL) Charlie Coyle's goal last Monday was part of a two-on-one with Justin Fontaine. Stars defenseman Alex Goligoski blocked the passing lane, forcing Coyle to take the shot, which he roofed for the goal.
PLAY #2 Niederreiter 2nd Effort (Dec. 21, 2015 vs. DAL) Nino Niederreiter and Coyle worked well together during the season of giving. The pair executed a complicated give-and-go, with Coyle receiving a pass off the boards that he dropped behind him, leaving the puck in the crease for Niederreiter, who pounced on it for a shot and then buried his own rebound.
PLAY #3 Duby Against The Grain (Dec. 26, 2015 vs. PIT) Devan Dubnyk started this sequence by stopping a one-timer from the stick of Penguins left wing Conor Sheary, but what he did next was the true highlight. The rebound bounced out into heavy traffic and was steadied by right wing Patric Hornqvist, who came in and put a shot on Dubnyk, who stacked his pads to prevent a goal.
