It’s time once again for Wild fans to decide the DQ Bakes Play of the Week based on three of the best efforts provided by Wild players from recent games. Voting ends Wednesday at 6:00 p.m.
The winning vote getter for the week of Dec. 7 was Devan Dubnyk’s back-to-back saves in the Wild’s 2-1 win at Chicago against the Blackhawks on Dec. 1.
This week’s nominees are:
PLAY #1 Blue-Paint Parise (Dec. 7, 2015 at COL) Zach Parise tied the game at Colorado in the third period, hacking away at a rebound off a Mikael Granlund shot on Avalanche goalie Semyon Varlamov. It was vintage Parise going to the net and doing the dirty work.
PLAY #2 Spurgeon On-Tap (Dec. 11, 2015 at ARI) Jared Spurgeon showed his goal-scoring touch and great hand eye coordination by taking a mid-air pass from Zach Parise and redirecting it past Coyotes goalie Anders Lindback. Spurgeon tracked the puck, raised his stick and stopped right at the blue-paint to knock it home for the 1-0 lead.
PLAY #3 Kool-Hand Kuemps (Dec. 12, 2015 at SJS) Darcy Kuemper helped kill a Sharks power play in a big way - stopping Brent Burns shot and then Joe Pavelski’s follow-up rebound at the beginning of the 2nd period in San Jose. Kuemper made 25 saves for his sixth career shutout in the 2-0 win.
