Next week, Target Field in Minneapolis will host Major League Baseball’s All-Star Game. Get primed for the Midsummer Classic with the Ninth Annual Celebrity Sweat Softball Challenge, noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 12 at Saint Paul’s Midway Stadium. The event will feature a number of NHLers with Wild and State of Hockey ties.
Keith Ballard, Justin Fontaine, Matt Cooke will join forces with Nate Prosser, Clayton Stoner and Mark Parrish for the game, which will benefit local youth Little Leagues.
Other NHLers with local ties appearing in the game include: Ryan McDonagh (New York Rangers), Dustin Byfuglien (Winnipeg Jets), Alex Goligowski (Dallas Stars).
The teams will be coached by former Vikings quarterback Daunte Culpepper and heavyweight boxing champ Evander “The Real Deal” Holyfield.
On Sunday, July 13, Wild forward Zach Parise will participate in the Taco Bell All-Star Legends & Celebrity Softball Game at Target Field. He’ll take the field with former MLB players including Rollie Fingers, Doc Gooden, Rickey Henderson and Jack Morris. Other celebrities include gold medalist Jennie Finch, actor Rob Riggle and Vikings running back Adrian Peterson.
