by Staff Writer / Minnesota Wild

The Minnesota Wild announced that players Erik Haula, Zach Parise, Jason Pominville, Nate Prosser, Jared Spurgeon and Jason Zucker will sign autographs at the BMO Harris Bank located at 5050 France Ave. South in Edina on Thursday, May 26, from 3-4 p.m., to raise money and support for people affected by the devastating wildfires around Fort McMurray in, Alberta, Canada.

Starting at 2 p.m. on May 26, the first 300 fans that donate $50 (only cash or credit card will be accepted) will receive a special ticket good for one autograph from each Wild player at the BMO Harris Bank located at 5050 France Avenue South in Edina. All proceeds from this event will be donated by the team to the Red Cross to support those affected by the wildfires in Alberta, Canada. Players will begin signing autographs at 3 p.m. Because of time restrictions, fans are limited to one autograph per player and no posed photos will be allowed.

Jared Spurgeon’s wife, Danielle, is one of the thousands of people that have been impacted by the fires in Alberta. Her parents lost their home to a fire in west Edmonton earlier this month and helped spearhead the Wild’s effort.

“So many people that were evacuated from Fort McMurray have no family, have lost absolutely everything and are now staying in shelters with no belongings and no idea if their home is still standing,” she said. “I know the devastation my family is experiencing and wanted to do something to try and help the people that have had their lives changed forever by these fires.”

Raging since May 1, the wildfires triggered the largest fire-related evacuation in Alberta’s history. More than 700 employees and volunteers of the Red Cross have been working tirelessly providing shelter, food, water, and family reunification services to people forced to flee their homes. Specially trained volunteers are offering comfort and care to those who have suffered trauma. In addition, the Canadian Red Cross has provided cash grants to more than 80,000 people affected by the wildfires to buy what they urgently need during this difficult time.

To further help the community, BMO Financial Group is donating $2 million to the Canadian Red Cross to provide emergency support in the Fort McMurray region and is offering a financial relief program to customers impacted by the fires. Fans wishing to help people affected by the wildfires in Canada are encouraged to visit or Gifts enable the Red Cross to respond to and help people affected by this disaster.
