Minnesota Wild announced that its company-wide Movember campaign will be presented by Sun Country Airlines.
Movember is an annual charity event held during November that engages men to grow Mo’s (slang for moustache) to raise awareness and funds for cancers affecting men. Wild defenseman Nick Schultz is once again leading the team’s Movember efforts. Two years ago Schultz was one of the first NHL players to embrace the cause after the father of one of his closest friends developed prostate cancer.
Fans are encouraged to register and donate to the Minnesota Wild Mo Bros Team by visiting Schultz's Mo Bros page here
. All fans that join the Minnesota Wild Mo Bros team and raise a minimum of $150 for Movember through their page, will receive a Buy One Get One Free ticket voucher to a 2011-12 regular season Wild game. All Wild players have an active Movember fundraising page and fans can also register at Section 104 during the Nov. 3 game against the Vancouver Canucks. A 501(c)3 non-profit, Movember benefits the Prostate Cancer Foundation and LIVESTRONG.
The Wild’s Movember campaign, presented by Sun Country Airlines, starts today. Wild players, and some staff members, are growing moustaches in support of the campaign. Fans can purchase a special $65 lower level Movember ticket to Wild home games on Nov. 25, 27 and 28 and the team will donate $10 from each ticket purchased to Movember. . The Wild will also be accepting cash donations for Movember at each November game at the Community Relations Booth at section 124.
The Wild will celebrate its Movember efforts on Nov. 25 against the Edmonton Oilers. Fans can submit pictures of their Mo’s through www.wild.com/Movember. Photos will be posted on the Wild Facebook wall and two finalists will be invited to make the Let’s Play Hockey announcement on Nov. 25. The winner of the Best Mo will receive travel certificates from Sun Country Airlines and a chance to meet Nick after the game for a photo opportunity. Other special events on Nov. 25 include: Barber Shop quartet at Gate 1; Moustache giveaway to all fans; Sun Country Airlines t-shirts given away to the first 1,500 men with moustaches as they enter arena; Mo Cam in place of Kiss Cam; Text your Mo to video board and the sale of fleece scarves to benefit Movember.
Other highlights of the Wild’s Movember efforts include the return of the Clutterstache Twitter account and special Movember hats and t-shirts will be available in the Hockey Lodge all month with a portion of the proceeds benefitting Movember. Females, affectionately named “Mo Sistas”, also play an important role in Movember by helping spread the word to friends and family and encouraging them to join Schultz’s Minnesota Wild Mo Bros team or donate to our moustache growing efforts.
