Wild owns four picks in 2008 Entry Draft

SAINT PAUL/MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- The National Hockey League’s (NHL) Minnesota Wild currently owns four picks in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, including the 24th selection in the first round. The 2008 NHL Entry Draft will be held June 20-21 at Scotiabank Place in Ottawa, Ontario. The first round of the draft will be held Friday, June 20 starting at 6:00 p.m. (CDT) live on VERSUS. Rounds 2-7 will be held Saturday, June 21 starting at 9:00 a.m. and will air on the NHL Network.

MINNESOTA WILD 2008 NHL ENTRY DRAFT CHOICES

Round 1 - 24th overall
Round 2 - 55th overall
Round 4 - 115th overall
Round 5 - 145th overall

WILD DRAFT NOTES

·    The Wild’s 24th selection in the first round is the lowest first round position in team history and the four picks are the fewest in club history.
·    Minnesota traded its 2008 third round draft pick (#85) to the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for Marc-Andre Bergeron (6/10/08).
·    The Wild traded its 2008 sixth round draft pick (#175) to the New York Islanders in exchange for Chris Simon (2/26/08).
·    Minnesota traded its 2008 seventh round draft pick (#205) to New Jersey in exchange for Aaron Voros (3/1/07).
