Mikko Koivu will have a chance for a gold medal on Sunday, when Finland takes on Sweden.

The Minnesota Wild is guaranteed to have a gold medal winner after Sunday. Daniel Tjarnqvist and Sweden dispensed of the Czech Republic, 7-3. Mikko Koivu and Team Finland dominated Russia in the other semifinal, winning 4-0.

That will set up an all-Scandinavian final on Sunday morning.

Center Mikko Koivu and Team Finland advanced to the gold medal game on Sunday after shutting out Russia, 4-0 on Friday. It was the fifth shutout of the tournament for Finland, equaling an Olympic record.

Koivu was kept off the scoresheet in the victory. He is the only Wild player without a point thus far in the tournament.

Defenseman Filip Kuba scored the Czech Republic’s first goal in a losing effort to Sweden in the semifinals on Friday. Kuba’s goal at the 3:11 mark of the first period tied the game at 1-1 before Sweden rattled off the next four goals. Kuba and the Czechs will face Russia in the bronze medal game tomorrow.

Defenseman Daniel Tjarnqvist and Team Sweden will play for the gold medal on Sunday morning after dismantling the Czech Republic on Friday. Tjarnqvist recorded one shot on goal and an even rating in the winning effort.
