Brian Rolston celebrates his first period power play goal with his Team USA teammates. The goal was Rolston’s first point of the Olympics.

Center Mikko Koivu played his second consecutive game with Team Finland and posted one shot on goal in a 6-0 shutout of Italy. Koivu and his teammates have yet to surrender a goal after two Olympic games, and they have outscored their opponents by a combined 11-0. Koivu and his mates will have Friday off before facing Filip Kuba and Czech Republic on Saturday.

Defenseman Filip Kuba registered one shot on goal in the Czech Republic’s shocking 3-2 loss to Team Switzerland on Thursday. Jaromir Jagr and Marek Zidlicky scored the goals for the Czechs, who will have tomorrow off. Kuba and Czech Republic will face Finland on Saturday.

Defenseman Daniel Tjarnqvist and his Team Sweden teammates were shut out on Thursday by Team Russia, 5-0. Tjarnqvist recorded two shots on goal, and was a -1 on the day. Team Sweden will meet Latvia on Saturday.

Right wing Marian Gaborik picked up his third point in two Olympic games with an assist on a Marian Hossa goal in the third period of Slovakia’s 6-3 win over Team Latvia. Gaborik recorded three shots in the game and was a +2 in the contest. Slovakia is the only team with two wins in Group B, which includes Kazakhstan, Russia, Latvia, Sweden and the United States.

Slovakia will look to continue its Cinderella story on Saturday against Brian Rolston and the United States.

Left wing Brian Rolston blasted a game-winning power play goal in the first period of Team USA’s 4-1 win over Kazakhstan on Thursday. Rolston finished the night with one goal on two shots and a +1 rating.

Rolston and Team USA will look to remain undefeated in pool play on Saturday against Slovakia, the other unbeaten team in Group B.
