Wild News And Notes
White Out On Friday
Wild center Todd White missed practice on Thursday afternoon, and Jacques Lemaire said he won’t be in the lineup for Friday night’s contest with Vancouver. White injured his left knee in the third period of Wednesday’s 6-0 win, when he was hit knee-to-knee by Vancouver’s Bryan Allen in a mid-ice collision.
"He won’t play tomorrow," said Lemaire. "And we don’t know right now who is going to take his spot. We’ll either call up someone or play another forward or seven defensemen."
Lemaire went on to say that it’s possible White could return for Sunday’s game against the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim.
Lemaire did mention the hit when reminded by a reporter that most of last night’s play lacked the chippiness of past games between the two rivals.
"Besides the hit on White at center ice, there was not a lot of other stuff going on," said Lemaire.
Just One More Night
Despite the injury to White, Lemaire said the target date for Marian Gaborik’s return will remain this Sunday against the Mighty Ducks.
"I don’t want to push it," said Lemaire.
Matt Foy, who scored his first, and second career NHL goals last night, did get a hold of the puck.
"Right now, it’s sitting in my locker and I’ll probably send it home," said Foy, who can’t really put in on a mantle, since he’s been staying at a downtown St. Paul hotel since he was called up prior to Opening Night.
With the way he’s been playing of late, it will be hard for the coaching staff to send Foy back down to Houston.
"I have a lot of confidence when I put him out there," said Lemaire. "He brings that high energy every shift."
"That’s my job, to play with high energy," said Foy. "If I can do that, it will create opportunities for my linemates and bring energy to everybody."
