SAINT PAUL -- The Minnesota Wild today announced plans to honor Jacob Wetterling and support the Wetterling family in several ways for the team's first three regular season home games on Oct. 15, 18 and 20 at Xcel Energy Center. Among several elements, Wild players will wear custom No. 11 helmet stickers and the team will dedicate a dasher board for all three games.

A fan of all sports, Jacob was a skilled goalie for his youth hockey team in St. Joseph, Minn., and wore jersey No. 11. Therefore, the Wetterling family and the Jacob Wetterling Resource Center have encouraged teams and people across the country to wear Jacob's No. 11 as a symbol of hope and commitment to making the world a better place for kids.

The Wetterling family issued a list of traits that Jacob stood for to remember and honor his hope for our world. The movement centers around 11 simple traits that Jacob valued:

1. Be fair
2. Be kind
3. Be understanding
4. Be honest
5. Be thankful
6. Be a good sport
7. Be a good friend
8. Be joyful
9. Be generous
10. Be gentle with others
11. Be positive

Fans are also encouraged to demonstrate how they are living these traits by using the hashtags #JacobsHopeLives and #11forJacob on social media. By texting "GIVE11" to 91999, fans can make an $11 donation to the Jacob Wetterling Resource Center. The JWRC will be providing information about keeping families safe at their table location on the main concourse at Sec. 104 on each of the designated October game nights.

The Jacob Wetterling Resource Center was founded to educate and assist families and communities to address and prevent the exploitation of children. They continue to work to end all forms of child maltreatment through education, training and prevention while advocating for and serving children, adult survivors and communities.
