Wild Development Camp to be held July 7-12

SAINT PAUL/MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- The National Hockey League’s (NHL) Minnesota Wild announced today that the organization will hold a development camp for team prospects July 7-12. The team will hold a scrimmage open to the public on Sunday, July 12 starting at 12:30 p.m. at Xcel Energy Center. Gate 1 will open to fans starting at 12:00 p.m. (Noon).


The camp will focus on the development of the organization’s top young prospects in both on-ice and off-ice settings. The Houston Aeros coaching staff will lead the on-ice sessions and the Wild’s coaching staff will meet with the players and work with them off the ice. The players will also participate in daily strength and conditioning education sessions and receive nutritional instruction.

A total of 26 players are scheduled to attend the Wild’s 2009 Development Camp including 21 selected by Minnesota in the NHL Entry Draft. Players scheduled to attend include the team’s last three first round draft picks: Nick Leddy (2009), Tyler Cuma (2008) and Colton Gillies (2007) and all eight players selected in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.

*Practice times are subject to change. Please contact a member of the Wild Media Relations Department if you are interested in attending the development camp and to confirm practice times. Players and coaches are available upon the conclusion of each practice session.

Only the scrimmage on Sunday, July 12 at Xcel Energy Center is open to the public.
