Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher has remained busy on the first day of free agency, his latest move coming as Minnesota acquires a second-round selection in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft from the Winnipeg Jets in exchange for forward Devin Setoguchi.
The move frees up salary cap space as the first day of NHL free agency winds down.
Setoguchi, 26, collected 27 points (13-14=27) in 48 games with Minnesota last season and added one goal in five playoff contests. The Taber, Alta., native has recorded 222 points (116-106=222) and 137 penalty minutes (PIM) in 384 career NHL games during six seasons with San Jose and Minnesota.
The Wild acquired Setoguchi from the San Jose Sharks along with Charlie Coyle and the 28th selection in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft (Zack Phillips) in exchange for Brent Burns on June 24, 2011.
