The Minnesota Wild has acquired forward Jared Knight from Boston in exchange for forward Zack Phillips. Minnesota also announced forward Stephane Veilleux (steph-AWN vay-OOH) has been reassigned to the Iowa Wild of the American Hockey League (AHL).
Knight, 23 (1/16/92), has collected three points (1-2=3) and 38 penalty minutes (PIM) in 36 games with Providence (AHL) this season. The 5-foot-11, 203-pound native of Battle Creek, Mich., has totaled 27 points (7-20=27) and 66 PIM in 107 career AHL games over parts of four seasons. Knight was originally selected by Boston in the second round (32nd overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
Phillips, 22 (10/28/92), has totaled 15 points (7-8=15) and 14 PIM in 49 games with Iowa (AHL) this season. The 6-foot, 194-pound native of Fredericton, N.B., has totaled 75 points (27-48=75) and 40 PIM in 196 games during three seasons with the Wild’s AHL affiliate. Phillips was originally selected by Minnesota in the first round (28th overall) of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.
Veilleux, 33 (11/16/81), has recorded two points (1-1=2) and 10 penalty minutes (PIM) in 12 games with Minnesota this season and 13 points (2-11=13) and 65 PIM in 43 games with Iowa. The 6-foot-1, 199-pound native of Beauceville, Que., has compiled 106 points (50-56=106) and 348 PIM in 506 NHL games with Minnesota, Tampa Bay and New Jersey.
