SAINT PAUL, Minn. - Minnesota Wild General Manager Bill Guerin today announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has acquired left wing Marcus Johansson from the Washington Capitals in exchange for a third-round selection in the 2024 NHL Draft.

Johansson, 32, has recorded 28 points (13-15=28) including 13 power-play points (4-9=13) in 60 games with the Capitals this season. He led Washington with five game-winning goals, ranked T-3rd in goals and sixth in scoring. The 6-foot-1, 203-pound native of Landskrona, Sweden, skated in his 800th career NHL game on Jan. 17 vs. the Wild. Johansson owns 435 points (157-278=435) in 813 career NHL games during 13 seasons with the Capitals, New Jersey Devils, Boston Bruins, Buffalo Sabres, Minnesota Wild and Seattle Kraken (2010-23). He has also collected 43 points (14-29=43) in 103 career Stanley Cup Playoff matches. Johansson has played for Sweden in five international tournaments including the 2014 Winter Olympics. He was selected by Washington in the first round (24th overall) of 2009 NHL Draft.
Johansson spent the 2020-21 season with the Wild, totaling 14 points (6-8=14) in 36 games. He was acquired by Minnesota from the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for Eric Staal on Sept. 16, 2020.
