by Mike Doyle / Minnesota Wild

As a member of the Wild, Wes Walz entertained Minnesota fans with his hard work and intensity. Now he will take his passion for the game into the broadcast booth.

The fan favorite will re-join the organization as part of the broadcast team and appear on FOX Sports North’s Wild Live pre- and post-game shows. The former forward will make his debut as an analysis during team’s home opener Saturday, Oct. 8.

Walz, 41, was an inaugural member of the Wild and skated 438 games with Minnesota from 2000-07, totaling 182 points (82-100=182). He ranks sixth on the Wild’s all-time games played list, tied for seventh in assists, seventh in points, fourth in game-winning goals (15), while he scored a franchise-best 14 shorthanded goals. Walz played 607 NHL games with Boston, Philadelphia, Calgary, Detroit and Minnesota, recording 260 points (109-151=260). He served as an Assistant Coach with the Tampa Bay Lightning from 2008-10.
