Last year, Wild.com wanted help from our fans in the State of Hockey and beyond to help us select the Top Play of the Year. To do so, we needed you to pick the Top Play each week, so we could pit them against each other in the offseason in a single-elimination tournament. Last year's winner was Jason Zucker's first-career goals against Detroit. We had so much fun, we're going to do it again this year.
This season, we're getting help selecting the top play each week from our friends at Dairy Queen. Last week's winner was Pretty Passing To Pominville, as the forward returned to Buffalo and capped off a seven-pass play on the man advantage.
This week, we have two nice saves, one coming from a quick-reacting defenseman, and a soft set of mitts. Up first, Jared Spurgeon makes a goal-line stand against Nashville to preserve a Wild win. Up next, Nino Niederreiter takes the puck from his backhand to forehand to the top shelf for a nifty goal against Carolina. Finally, Niklas Backstrom returns to form with a HUGE paddle save against Chicago.
