Last year, Wild.com wanted help from our fans in the State of Hockey and beyond to help us select the Top Play of the Year. To do so, we needed you to pick the Top Plays each week, so we could pit them against each other in the offseason in a single-elimination tournament. We had so much fun, we're going to do it again this year.
This season, we're getting help selecting the top play each week from our friends at Dairy Queen and looking for fans to vote for the Ri-DQ-ulous Play of the Week. The Week 5 winner was Charlie Coyle's first-career goal against the Calgary Flames.
This week, we have a huge save, an overtime backhander and a period starting snipe. First, Niklas Backstrom makes a big breakaway save to keep the Wild in a tie game against the Calgary Flames. Next is Zach Parise's overtime backhand winner against the Flames on the power play. Finally, the third play to choose from is Mikko Koivu's quick snipe, scored only in nine seconds into the third period against the Edmonton Oilers.
