With the help of the Minnesota Wild, Let's Play Hockey
and Minnesota Hockey, gear for the Used Hockey Equipment Drive has been collected and sorted and is ready to be distributed to players readying for the upcoming season.
The fifth annual Used Hockey Equipment Drive will conclude with the equipment distribution from 9 a.m. to noon on Sunday, Oct. 13 at Xcel Energy Center.
The distribution of equipment provides those just starting hockey, thinking about getting into the game or families without expendable income the opportunity to obtain the gear they need to play the greatest game on ice.
“For the past four years, Let’s Play Hockey has organized a used hockey equipment drive that has donated more than 10,000 pieces of hockey gear to nearly 2,600 people," Let’s Play Hockey publisher Doug Johnson said. "There has been enough donated equipment to fill more than three semi trailers and nearly every item has been claimed except for a few pairs of breezers. Last year, families came from throughout the State of Hockey – from as far away as Worthington, Esko and Wadena – to receive the free equipment.”
