Todd Richards to Appear on "Unscripted"

by Staff Writer / Minnesota Wild

Wild Head Coach Todd Richards will join other coaches and managers from Minnesota sports teams in a new mini-series on FOX Sports North.

Annouced today by FOX Sports North, “Unscripted,” will bring together leaders and figures in the Minnesota sports landscape, beginning Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2011. The first mini-series “Unscripted: Coaches/Manager” features Richards, Minnesota Twins Manager Ron Gardenhire, Minnesota Timberwolves Head Coach Kurt Rambis and University of Minnesota Men’s Basketball Head Coach Tubby Smith.

Episode one of the three-part special premieres on Tuesday, Jan. 3 at 9:00 p.m., followed by episode two on Jan. 6 at 9:00 p.m. and episode three on Jan. 8 at 9:00 p.m.

Moderated by Anthony Lapanta, “Unscripted: Coaches/Manager,” provides Minnesota sports fans with the unique opportunity to get to know the Minnesota coaches/manager at an intimate level.  A rare occasion for Richards, Gardenhire, Rambis and Smith to coordinate their busy schedules and meet face-to-face at one location, the four talked openly and candidly for hours. FOX Sports North captured enough exclusive content for three different half-hour episodes.

Episode one on Jan. 3 will focus on how the four well-known men got into coaching, their daily routine and how they deal with media and media criticism.

Episode two debuts on Jan. 6 and is a candid conversation about what characteristics make a good coach and the effects, both good and bad, that their profession has had on their families.

Episode three, premiering Jan 8, will highlight each coach’s sport and the fundamentals of coaching, including creating team unity, handling egos in the locker-room and dealing with officials.

All three episodes will re-air on Jan. 8 starting at 9:00 p.m. and Jan. 9 beginning at 1:00 p.m.
