The Minnesota Wild announced today that the contract of Assistant General Manager Tom Thompson will not be renewed beyond this season. Thompson's Wild tenure ends after 11 years with the club.
In a statement, Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher said, "The Wild thanks Tom Thompson for his years of service and many contributions to the organization. We wish Tom future success."
There won't be further comment from the organization on the matter, so it is unknown as of now if there will be a replacement for Thompson. However, most of Thompson's duties included scouting for the NHL draft and amateur development, which are specialties of Assistant General Manager Brent Flahr, who was hired by Fletcher last summer.
The Houston Aeros, the Wild's primary developmental affiliate, are overseen by Wild Assistant to the General Manager, Jim Mill.
