Well Wild fans we’re just more than three full days away from the puck dropping on the Wild’s 2008-09 season. Today we had our biggest media contingent of the pre-season, so we’re officially ready to go.

Today was the day for FS North and KSTC-TV to shoot some player shots to use for their coverage throughout the season. FS North needed every guy in full gear and uniform, so it wasn’t easy, but we got it wrapped up in a good amount of time.

Jacques Lemaire was rather jovial today, and told the media that tomorrow he will name his alternate captains (permanent) for the rest of the season, while on Friday he will name his captain for the month of October. Kim Johnsson wore the “C” for much of the pre-season, it will be interesting to see what the coaches choose for October. Nick Schultz, Mikko Koivu, Kim Johnsson, Brent Burns, so much leadership among returning players on this team, not to mention guys like Andrew Brunette and Owen Nolan.

Today I also had to get with Erik Reitz and Derek Boogaard and show them their “mini bobbleheads” that the Houston Aeros are producing in their likeness. Reitz saw his last week and they made the necessary changes, so they will be ready to go in Houston for later in the season.

Looking ahead to the rest of the week…Tomorrow, FS North and KSTC will be getting a few more things from us, plus we’ll have the alternate captain announcement. Friday, we are practicing at Parade Ice Garden due to the Rascal Flatts concert at Xcel Energy Center that night.

We’ll also be unveiling a new permanent link and full time name for the blog later this week. I’m excited, as you should be able to put it into your RSS feed and read it every day.

I’ve got some e-mails to get to before the next blog, and we’ll have a mailbag in that one as well. So if you’d like to get into the action, drop me a note at
